Ingredients

  • 2 5 oz cans of tuna – use your favorite brand!
  • Juice of 2 limes – fresh is best!
  • 1 medium red onion finely chopped
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes diced
  • 1/2 cucumber diced (optional, but super refreshing!)
  • 1 small jalapeño minced (adjust to your spice preference)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • AVOCADO optional but necessary - for extra creaminess
  • Substitutions:
  • Can replace canned tuna with canned salmon or shrimp.
  • Feel free to switch lime juice for lemon juice for a different tang.
  • Use red bell pepper instead of jalapeño for sweetness.

Instructions

  • Drain the Tuna: Open up those cans of tuna and drain all the liquid. You want the tuna to be flaked and not swimming! Trust me, this will help with the flavor and texture.
  • Mix in the Goodies: In a big bowl, add your drained tuna, chopped red onion, diced cherry tomatoes, and the cucumber if you’re using it.
  • Squeeze the Limes: Time to get messy! Squeeze the juice of those two limes into the bowl. Make sure to catch any seeds!
  • Spice It Up: Toss in the minced jalapeño and fresh cilantro. Now, giving it a gentle stir combines all the fantastic flavors!
  • Taste and Adjust: Time for the moment of truth! Taste your ceviche and add some salt and pepper to get that flavor just right!
  • Chill It Out: If you have time, let your ceviche chill in the fridge for about 10-15 minutes. This really helps all the flavors mingle together.
  • Serve It Up: Serve with tortilla chips, over a bed of lettuce, or even inside cute little avocados for a fancy touch. Enjoy!
