Ingredients

  • 1 pound of flank steak or you can use sirloin or chicken for a twist
  • 1/4 cup of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar you can swap it out for honey if you want a different flavor
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
  • 3 cloves of garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon of grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes optional, for spice lovers
  • 4 cups of cooked rice jasmine rice is my favorite, but go wild!
  • 1 cup of broccoli florets or any veggie of your choice
  • 1 red bell pepper sliced (or green onions if you have them handy)
  • Sesame seeds for garnish because a little sprinkle makes everything pretty!

Instructions

  • Marinate the Beef: In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. This will be your marinade. Slice your flank steak thinly against the grain and toss it into the marinade. Let that sit for at least 15 minutes (or longer if you're feeling patient) while it soaks up all that flavor!
  • Cook the Rice: While your beef is getting all cozy in the marinade, go ahead and cook your rice according to package instructions. Fluff it up when it's done, and set it aside!
  • Stir-Fry Time! : Heat up a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef (and any leftover marinade) to the hot pan. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the beef is cooked through and starts to get a little caramelized at the edges. Throw in the broccoli and bell pepper for the last 2-3 minutes of cooking, just to get them tender-crisp!
  • Assemble Your Bowls: Time to layer everything up! Spoon some rice into a bowl, top it with that delicious beef and veggie mixture, and sprinkle some sesame seeds on top. Enjoy the beauty of your creation!
