- Matzo crackers 4 pieces: These are the star of our show! If you need a gluten-free option, try gluten-free matzo or use a flatbread instead.
- Tomato sauce 1/2 cup: Use your favorite store-bought sauce or whip up a quick homemade one with canned tomatoes, garlic, and Italian herbs.
- Shredded mozzarella cheese 1 cup: Classic choice! Feel free to swap with low-fat mozzarella or a vegan cheese to make it dairy-free.
- Olive oil 1 tablespoon: Great for drizzling before baking. Can substitute with avocado oil for a different flavor.
- Fresh basil optional, for garnish: Adds lovely freshness. No fresh basil? Dried Italian herbs will work great too!
- Your favorite pizza toppings pepperoni, olives, bell peppers, etc.: Get creative! You can even use leftover proteins like chicken or cooked vegetables.
Preheat the Oven: Fire up your oven to 350°F (175°C). We want it hot and ready for our matzo pizza!
Prepare the Matzo: Place your matzo crackers on a baking sheet. You can line the sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup (we love that!).
Sauce It Up: Spread about 2 tablespoons of tomato sauce on each matzo piece. Make sure to cover it nice and evenly, but don’t drown it—nobody likes soggy pizza!
Cheese It: Sprinkle 1/4 cup of mozzarella on each matzo. Pile it on! This is pizza, after all! If you like it cheesy, go for it!
Customize with Toppings: Now’s the fun part! Add your favorite toppings. Whether it’s veggies, meats, or more cheese, make it your own!
Drizzle with Olive Oil: Lightly drizzle olive oil over the assembled pizza for that extra flavor kick!
Bake It: Slide the baking sheet into the oven and let it bake for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the edges are crispy. Keep an eye on it, so it doesn't burn!
Garnish & Enjoy: Once baked, take it out and let it cool for a minute. Sprinkle with fresh basil if you're using it, slice it up, and dig in!
