- Wonton Wrapper: 1 pack about 30 wontons
- Ground Pork: 1 pound can substitute with chicken or tofu for a vegetarian version
- Green Onions: 3 stalks chopped
- Garlic: 2 cloves minced
- Ginger: 1 tablespoon grated (fresh is best!)
- Soy Sauce: 2 tablespoons
- Sesame Oil: 1 teaspoon
- Chicken or Vegetable Broth: 6 cups
- Salt and Pepper: to taste
- Fresh Cilantro: for garnish optional, but adds a lovely freshness!
Prepare the Filling: In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, green onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix everything together until well combined. Don’t be afraid to get your hands in there! Season with salt and pepper to taste. Give it a little taste test. This is where the flavor magic happens!
Wrap the Wontons: Grab your wonton wrappers and a small bowl of water. Place a wrapper on a clean surface, spoon about 1 teaspoon of filling into the center, dab your finger in water, and moisten the edges of the wrapper. Fold it over to form a triangle, pressing out any air. Seal it tight. You can get creative with shapes if you like! Just keep it all tight and sealed.
Heat the Broth: In a large pot, bring your chicken or vegetable broth to a simmer over medium heat. This is where your house starts to smell amazing!
Cook the Wontons: Carefully drop the wontons into the simmering broth. Let them cook for about 6-8 minutes, or until they float to the top and are cooked through. The aroma will have you wishing you had a magic wand to speed things up!
Serve it Up: Once cooked, ladle the wontons and broth into bowls. Top with fresh cilantro and more green onions for that extra flair. Grab a spoon and enjoy!
